Hi there đź‘‹, I'm Simone, the co-founder and CEO of Motif, and a YA fantasy writer with two works in progress. Along with my husband, Juan, a talented software engineer, we started Motif to solve a challenge I knew first-hand:Â writing tools aren't keeping up with many writers' needs.
Like many writers, I relied on Scrivener for years. But I found myself constantly hitting walls—the fragmented workflows, limited planning features, and clunky interface hampered my creative process. I kept searching for a better way only to come up empty-handed.
In February 2023, after one too many rants about my writing tools, Juan asked the fateful question: "Why can't we make your dream writing app?" A lightbulb went off, and Motif was born.Â
Today, Motif offers an intuitive writing experience with integrated story planning, plotting, and research tools that don’t break you out of your creative flow. There's still work to be done, but we're committed to unifying the entire writing journey and guiding writers towards success.

Our goal is to build an all-in-one storytelling platform that takes writers from the initial idea to published work.Â

Our roadmap includes seamlessly integrating tools for planning, researching, writing, revising, and publishing guidance. We'll enrich the individual writing experience by fostering a community where writers, editors, and readers can connect. And we'll simplify the path to publication, whether going the self-publishing or agent query route.
